New York, Tuesday, Oct. 18th...."Many Latinos, like other Americans, are worried about the economy, are dealing with unemployment, foreclosures and bankruptcies. And those who were hoping for a comprehensive immigration reform package – which Obama promised he would accomplish in his first year in office – have expressed disappointment in the failure of Congress to agree on a bipartisan measure.

"Sepulveda said the summits are not an election-season ploy."

"At the same time, he said, it does give the administration a chance to let Latinos know what Obama has done for them, such as suspending deportations while it reviews each case and prioritizes those involving criminals."

White House Officials Hold a Summit for Latinos | Fox News Latino

Aw, isn't that special! How is suspending deportations of illegal aliens doing something for Latino citizens? Hmm.

You know that summit wasn't really being held to talk about their economic or educational problems anyway. It was to pander to them over illegal immigration. Obama is desperate for their votes.

I think its sad how its asked "what are you going to do for blacks" "what are you going to do for latinos"

Why does it even have to be broken down like that? Why cant we see this country as a nation of Americans instead of a nation of this race, that race? And if latinos or blacks want to continue to live like they are just a "group" or tag name then let them. Enough with this pandering to people as groups, especially when it comes to race.

If Latinos are mad about illegal immigration, then screw em. If they are legal, then the only care they should have is that we need to enforce our borders policies and laws.

Thank you as usual. As most always any chance he gets, is to pander to them over the illegal immigration issues.

However at a time as this, when out Country is in dire straights, i think it ought to be the American People that Obama panders too.Not one group, all Americans.

Divide and conquer. Its not just Obama its both parties. They want the masses divided because a unified society would never tolerate what these elected reps do every day.
They want whites to mistrust minorities, they want minorities to mistrust whites. They sing the siren song to each group but its always a song designed to appeal to the group they are pandering to.
In this case hispanics.

Exactly! We are ONE nation, and our questions and concerned should be addressed accordingly. If he wants to hold summits, fine. But, they should be topic-specific. . . such as jobs, the economy, education, etc. They should never be based on race, ethnicity, or anything that divides us.

And he certainly shouldn't be making promises to ignore our immigration laws to placate a certain group.

Certainly not a group of foreigners illegally living and working here.

I am sure many if not most of them present at the summit were Latino citizens. Why is he promising a certain citizen group to ignore our immigration laws?
