I am sure many if not most of them present at the summit were Latino citizens. Why is he promising a certain citizen group to ignore our immigration laws?
One word. . .VOTES. Obviously, he doesn't realize he is alienating more voters than he could ever hope to gain by pandering to Latinos. In fact, I can't count the number of people I know who voted for him in 2008, but will not support him in 2012 due to their total disgust over this issue.

Of course but why does a certain ethnic group of citizens in this country want a politician to ignore our laws for their group? Aren't we all as Americans supposed to uphold the rule of law? Aren't we all supposed to be united for the best interests of our fellow Americans and this country?

Apparently, for some, ethnicity trumps all. It's sad they don't realize we will all go down with this sinking ship.
