I concur with that. While visiting my sister and her family last month in Creston, BC, about an hour's drive north of Sandpoint, we decided to go down there for the day. We had a great lunch at Trinity on the Beach.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! So many choices - so little time - hahaha - Getting excited about our trip there in 12 days! Hoping you aren't getting any smoke from the fires up there - read about one near Plains, MT, and how the helicopters are scooping water out of the Clark Fork. Where we live, about an hour east of Helena, we haven't had a clear day free of smoke for about a month. Pretty dry over this way.

SnowSand

If you are checking out the area between Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry and like burgers, you must check out the Elmira Store. Very cool, old-fashioned store and restaurant. The folks are friendly and the burgers are to-die-for.

FYI-We live on the southern edge of the area that you are describing. We moved last year, so if you have any questions, feel free to DM me. MamaLion

A humble place with great food: The Blue Heron Cafe inside the gas station by Samuels on 95! Their breakfast is the best I've had in a long time. And the view of the Selkirks is spectacular!

OUCH. Can't believe you beat me to it, Clark. We love the Blue Heron-it's just down the road and the food is great. Our faves: breakfast, burgers, fish and chips, and lasagna.

And they're nice folks, too!

(Clark- I can't believe we haven't tripped over each other yet!)

Lion--maybe we have! We just didn't know it! If you remember seeing a big white shepherd looking like a wolf, with a red bandanna around her neck, we can't have been far behind!

This morning we were trying to think of a good place to have brunch down here in muggy, hot SoCal--and the only places we could think of were Sandpoint breakfast places! That's pathetic...

Hey CFF - whenever we're around the Clark Fork area, we'll look for the white shepherd with the red bandana. Sounds like there are lots of labs up there, so our overfed black lab with the red collar will fit right in. Definately headed over to Trestle Creek area for some dog swimming. MamaLion, I took you up on your suggestion for a DM - would love to hear more about your area too, as we figured to check out Ponderay up to Elmira and Naples. Will check out all around Lake Pend Oreille, from Clark Fork to Sagle to Bayview. Looks like we have enough restaurants to sample.....maybe we should have added a few days to that vacation rental!
