OK so hopefully this won't sound to incendiary. I've lived here now for several years and came from a rather conservative State. I have to be perfectly honest. While I don't travel a ton anymore, I've YET to meet one non conservative person in Idaho. I read a lot about the goings on in places such as Boise. I get that they are experiencing a significant influx of folks from less conservative areas. That said however I've met folks from up north in Lewiston and east in Pocatello, Idaho Falls and Rexburg. Once again ALL were quite conservative. Not extreme right nut jobs I assure you, but far from the left attitudes that seem to be so much in the news lately.

Most wish to retain their rights and not be told what to do by the government. Is that far right? I think not. Very much ALL I've communicated with most certainly do NOT want a Socialistic bend to occur in our ways of life nor government methods. So I would have to say they are anything BUT "liberal" or at least what is associated with being that way. I have to feely admit I'm dead against what has happened on our Southern border let alone allowing the flood of immigration to occur when we can't even handle the people that have already been here. It's plain to see it's greatly impacted the whole COVID mayhem and people contracting it. Those coming in aren't even checked before they came in.

I would also be very willing to admit I miss the way that immigration occurred and was setup back at the turn of the 20th century here, which worked very well indeed. An immigrant (typically coming in through Ellis Island not the border) went through several checks and requirements before being allowed in. First they had full papers on WHO they were, their trade or work capabilities they were entering with. They had to have a place to live already arranged with paperwork showing it. Lastly they underwent examination by physicians to verify they had NO communicable diseases.

Sadly this NO longer applies. If it did! it would be so very much better for our country AND the people entering. Yeah I know, a good number would likely NOT be given admittance as they wouldn't cut it. But hey, that's what it's ALL about. It sure did work back in the early 20th century right through the 50's. People came here with many wonderful skills that greatly added so very many improvements in our country along the way. Now with the way it is they come in, get and EBT card to purchase their groceries free on the U.S. tax payers having put nothing into the system most often. They send their kids free to our schools, get free medical care. All on OUR backs who work and have paid taxes for years. You think this is fair? Not on your life is it fair. Sorry for the rant/explanation and I hope the moderator will consider this a reasonable expression of feelings towards what's going on in this country.

New to the news thread vocal?

Talk about "keeping it classy please" and "inserting your personal hate".
Thanks, I thought so too. You can learn from people if you open your mind. A closed mind is a real problem.

[mod note] This is the "Idaho News" thread where users post links to news stories about Idaho. Discussion is very, very limited. Any further political or inflammatory posts that are not news will be deleted. [/mod note]

Sad, Boise was on a recovery track from such happenings over the last decade. Seems they are heading towards the Kalifornia way once again. Very sad indeed.

Such happenings? This is the first of this "happening" in Boise.

You're comment is tacky. Stop with the California with a "K" dialogue.

The police have not released info pertaining to the suspect.

Mall shootings may be rare here, but school shootings aren't. We have suffered a rash of them in 2021.

2021 has been a violent mass shooting year all over the nation. The violence just isn't getting the attention it got in previous years.

This is very true. Mass violent shootings are becoming way too common all over the United States. We are not safe anywhere.

The shooter was a right wing, gun loving Trumper, racist, white and moved to Idaho from the midwest.
