Demanding rather than pretentious.

You are right that Lexus has been underestimated in the beginning, however sales in Europe are still low. I just don't see the reason to continuously badmouth specific brands as some people do... nobody is obliged to buy a BMW (or else).

Thumbs up New era for Hyundai

Hyundai won't attract the people who go after luxury badges for the prestige. But not all prestige-badge owners fall into that group.

Mercedes-Benz

"The Genesis is a great car that feels more like an S-Class or an LS460 than a sports sedan like an E350 or A6. The small misses I mention above will probably not swing the pendulum for the target audience. They're gonna march in droves over to this car like ants on sugar. Compared to its intended competition (Cadillac, Buick, Lincoln) Genesis is great bang for the buck ($42,000 for a loaded V8)."

"+1... I couldn't have said it better!!!! And to the OP, if you decide to go with the Genesis, please post your reviews as I'd love to read them... Sure, I enjoy my W211 but in no way do I put it on a pedestal beyond criticism/comparison..."

BMW

"I have been driving BMWs for the last 10 years. 2 weeks ago, I traded in my BMW 528i for a Hyundai Genesis. I test drove a 550i, LS460, and MB E550. I bought the Genesis on the spot right after test driving it. I would have never considered a Hyundai before the Genesis. So far I am very happy with the car. I have about 1,500 miles on it. The ride is very smooth, quiet, and balanced. I will say it's between a Lexus (soft) and BMW (handling); genesis is more on the luxury side."

Lexus

"I was with my G/F and showed her the car without telling her what it was. She commented it looked very good. I told her it was the new luxury Hyundai and she was like "a Hyundai" and I explained how this car is REAL DEAL."

"But, in the meantime, even with a few shortcomings, those who have wanted a Hyundai-badged Lexus have just gotten their prayers answered. Happy Shopping. "

"Well, for those who didn't believe me when I said the Genesis drove like something between a GS and an LS.

Edmunds seems to get the same impression, and took it a step further.

Lincoln

"The 375hp Genesis V8 isn't a pretty machine but the craftsmanship, engine, 6-speed auto, and suspension tuning was amazing. Why anyone would buy this over a Lincoln MKS (same price, maybe even less) is beyond me.

You guys should check one out. But only the V8 model, it has nicer leather and the obvious difference under the hood. That's amazing car for $35k.

Hyundai made the Lincoln I've always wanted. Awesome.

I even like the styling, even if its generic. Consider me a Hyundai fan now. Screw Lincoln and their lame-o reskinned Fords."

Volkswagen

"I have one right now. The car overall is amazing especially for the price. There is plenty of power and the car has minimal road noise while driving. Great car"

As much excitement and hype there is over the Genesis Sedan. There might be even more for the Genesis Coupe. Especially in the performance & tuner crowd.
