I drive a Buick Lucerne right now, looking forward to replacing it.
The Genesis is definitely a car that looks like something, a stylish enough ride, even with the non-prestige brand. Not terribly expensive, and has a decent amount of power.
How is it as far as ride, and dependability, particularly in comparison to what I have now?
Is it decent in bad weather, which we have enough of here in western PA?
The sedan has optional AWD for the lower trim. Hyundai is a good brand these days, judging by experience. No reliability issues and a very good value as far as packages go. They do ride a little slushy but some people call that plushy.
The LaCrosse would be the successor to the Lucerne, and even though there isn't a V8 option, the 3.6l in the LaCrosse actually makes more horsepower than the old 4.6 Northstar did.
I'd test drive the LaCrosse and the Genesis and see which you like better.
A friend has had two, he leases due to having a business and tax benefits. Has been very pleased with the cars. Seems like it is a luxury car for people who don't care what brand car they are seen in, just want the luxury features. Handling might not be as good as a BMW or MB, but then the price makes up for that.
Check out the Azera too, you might be able to negotiate a better deal on one of those.
