They have a bad reputation for a reason.

I guess it depends on your experience. I know a few people who purchased a KB Home in the Westgate community and LOVE it. So, I always say do your research... hear from both purchasers and those who chose to purchase with another builder. When I look into things like this I will even go through the neighborhood and knock on the doors of those who have a KB Home, a David Weekley, and so forth to obtain some real feedback!

Being that you are a Realtor, more feedback would be a bit more useful. You stated "They have a bad reputation for a reason" and that was it... what are some reasons you know of being a realtor that has gained KB Home that type of reputation? I think your knowledge would be influential.

I'm not sure why you dug up this old thread....but you can find all the info you need by googling "KB Homes complaints". Be prepared, however,... it'll take the better part of a decade to read all of it. I'm surprised there is enough cyberspace still available to contain it.

Ya, kinda weird that a first-time poster would pick this dinosaur thread to resurrect. "Shill" comes to mind, but what do I know?

Typical Review of KB:

"POOR CONSTRUCTION QUALITY ...MASS BUILDERS. KB uses cheap labor, my hand rails broke as I was holding on to go upstairs, nails are popping out of the walls and ceilings all over the house. The toilets are leaking upstairs onto my first floor ceilings. I cant even use my front door because the key hole is already damage, adding an extra expense as I have to use the garage door instead. The carpet has nails sticking out in certain areas that its scary to walk barefoot."

I learned a long time ago that reviews online tend to be mostly negative towards anything.since most people seem to post when they have issues and not when things are good.

With KB I did a lot of research off the internet...by talking to people who owned or own a KB home and to people in the local area who dealt with the same people who would be dealing with me if I bought one.

I found the exact opposite of what is posted online. Not to say they don't have issues and they certainly don't have a great past. But after speaking with several people who had bought a KB, I felt good enough about it to buy one.

My experience with the construction super was great and he really showed he cared about the quality of the home. Any issues we noted or that were found on inspections were promptly taken care of (and not many issues were found). Have only dealt with warranty issues twice and both were taken care of in 48hrs or less.

So far, after nearly a year, we have been really happy with our home.
