Is this a nice neighborhood? A close friend is looking at moving there (first home-single no kids) and we drove through and it looks really nice but my concern is the KB Homes they are building in a new section that start in the 90s This won't be a forever home but they still want it to be in a nicer area.

Thanks

I dont know exactly where you are referring to, but I know that area well. I would personally stay away from those developments. Mortgages for those types of buyers are getting tough to get done, so you are begging for foreclosures, and run down rental property.

I agree with mtgmike, property values in that community have dropped a lot, you can check just east in the Copperfield area, although it's older it's much better.

Westgate itself is fine - and will probably weather the ugly pimple to just to the north of it that is also "Westgate" - but separated. The pimple part is made up of the tacky little KB homes. It should have called itself Westgate Wannabe. That part will never look like the other, bigger part. It is very weird that the subdivision allowed KB to be a part of it - but they made KB go sit in another part of the playground. All things being equal - I would probably pick Copperfield - but Westgate will really be OK.
It's like Oak Forest - those on the east side of TC Jester are different than the part on the west side. The appreciation is stronger on the east - MUCH stronger.
