Thank you move4ward for the links, and thanks SouthmoreAve for the inside information...it's good to know that there is a Park and Ride. Even though I drive, I'm from Brooklyn and therefore used to having the convenience of public transportation when needed.

Yes, the Park&Ride is located in the parking lot of a mall in the north side, where METRO will take you to Downtown Houston, but not directly.

But that bridge is a wide and gentle crossing. The tunnel that used to be next to it probably was something else.

Plus, we have good parks and schools, since PISD was a national model school district in 2008-2009.

And that is one thing Pasadena has that Pearland doesn't: Public Transportation, even it its just a park&ride lot.

The north side isn't as bad as one thinks and is improving. Its just the suburbanites that are jealous that even a city with a bad reputation is still larger in population, and no other city comes close to being the second largest city in Greater Houston. Not Sugarland, not Pearland, not Missouri City, not Baytown, nor the Woodlands, or Galveston, League City, or Texas City.

My recommendation is to find some apartments in the Fairmont Parkway Area. Access to shopping, restaurants, and theres even a library branch. Plus its "safer" than the North Side.
Well put SM. The renovation of the old police station should start soon from what I here. I will be relieved when they get the roads finished though.

The tunnel was a bit clausterphobic (sp?) the bridge is really neat to look at, if nothing else. I do hate crossing it on really windy days though.

Why? It is a longer commute + tolls for the toll road, when there is a perfectly nice neighborhood right around the corner from the poster's school.

I said "it is known as Stinkadena". Sorry it makes you angry - but it still is known as that - regardless if it actually stinks or not. I have visited the area, a couple of times within that last few years, - which is why I know the name "Stinkadena". It never occurred to me that it was called that because of a papermill. I thought it was because of its appearance.

Convenience and public transportation can't be used in the same sentence in Houston. Coming from Brooklyn I am sure that you find MARTA inadequate. Wait until you meet METRO. GET RID of the Hooptee if you can. I don't think that you will enjoy living in Pasadena or any Houston suburb without a car.
