Katy isn't URBAN.

But at least Aldine has gotten a handle on how to work in a community full of diversity and various economic levels. I think there are some nice parts of the metro that are getting extremely diverse faster than the powers that be will know how to handle.

Look at what happened to Sharpstown in a blink of an eye.

The brand new school in Katy ISD (in Cinco Ranch) will be rated Exemplary... I can almost guarantee it. No big surprise in a high income area with highly educated parents and high parental involvement. Where people "choose" to move for the schools. No news story there.

But goodness, pick a school district with poverty, crime, parents who can't or won't get involved , a place where people won't send their children if they have the resources to send them elsewhere. And they earn national kudos? That is freakin' AWESOME! That shows of a school culture where teachers must put their BLOOD SWEAT TEARS into what they do. It's easy to be a good teacher in South Katy... it is a true mark of acheivement to reach children despite outside influences that could pull them away from education.

KUDOS to Aldine ISD!!!!

Do not live in Aldine and do not send your children to school there. I wonder how they received the million $ award? They do pay their teachers well and provide excellent training and support though.

Aldine ISD gets tax money from the Greenspoint business district and the businesses around the airport.

Inwood Forest is probably the most expensive and notable community within Aldine ISD.

yeah, and I think with the City showing interest with the Golf Course, Inwood Forest maybe looking at a turn around.
