Cypress is generally a great area to move. Find an established neighborhood that you like. I would stay away from brand-new moderatly priced subdivisions, you may not like how they turn out. Cypress Creek, Cy-Fair, Cypress Ridge, Cypress Woods and Cypress Falls are very good HS.

I do not know anything about the apartments themself, I know the area very well. I used to live near there and have friends "up the street" from the apartments. The school is zoned to Lamkin Elementary, Arnold Middle, and Cy-Fair HS (each located near each other at Telge/290). The area is nice.

It's not what it used to be sadly. Bonaire was great 20 years ago (before the Mcmansions moved in across 290)

Cypress is a great area. Rapidly growing with numerous upscale neighborhoods and great schools. The area you guys are asking about is the older part of Cypress that has several more affordable neighborhoods and housing options.

Bonaire is an older, affordable neighborhood, located near 290 & FM 1960.

The Pinnacle is a tax-credit housing apartment complex located near Bonaire. It was authorized despite heavy opposition from the surrounding community and has had a high vacancy rate.

As for diversity, the Cypress area is roughly 80% white, 5% Black, and 13% Hispanic. Relatively speaking, for the Houston area, it is a mostly white community. (The area in question, however, is the most 'diverse' part of Cypress). Still, If diversity is really important to you, you may want to look closer in around the Beltway, or around the 529 area.

It is my experience that not all school districts are created equal. The CFISD is one of many districts where catering to parents is the norm depending on where you live. If you live south of FWY 290 little attention will be paid to you but if you live north of this state highway you will get immediate attention. Of course, there are exceptions. When looking for a home try Klein or Katy, they give more bang for the buck when it comes to educating your child. And, their tax rates are lower which is the unseen quantity in this district.

Cy-Fair has great schools both north and south of 290.

Klein ISD overall is the best school district in the area with the lowest tax rate (1.580%).

Katy's tax rate is the highest in the area if not the state at 1.815% (Cy-Fair 1.654%).
