It ranks 4th as the city with highest use of public transport in the US! I don't see your point. I bet the 31% thing is because it includes people driving in the city from outside (just like NYC at 50%). I reiterate that it's unheard of for people who live in the city not to use public transports to get to work.

Yes, but you can't say MOST people in San Francisco use public transportation to go to work, because that is false. I never said 31% is bad. For the US, that is excellent ridership, but you know, you just think it would be more.

Moderator cut: rude As I said, the percentage is low because it must include the people who live in the Bay Area but not in the city of San Francisco. Those are the commuters. The citizens of San Francisco use public transport as much as they voted for Obama (probably close to 90%). :-)

I'm going to tell roberto from San Fran the same thing I told the NOLA people - you are coming from a truly one-of-a-kind city and you're not going to find it like that anywhere else.
