I think that is one of the only Wal-Marts around here without a tire/lube shop. Nor is it a Super Wal-Mart. And ghetto it is.

Yep. The inital plan will be for a 40 floor highrise, but when the funding drops out or the city denies the permits, Walmart will swoop in and buy the land for a pittance and a song. Watch out, Ashby. I'm looking at you.

I don't think there will be any Ashby-style opposition. Consider the differences of the area where the Ashby was going up and the former Astroworld site.

Money and influence.

Its still alive and well, there are two signs at the astrowold site about this development, but they will have to be replaced because someone painted them black during rodeo.

The Development will be called "SouthPointe". Its a mixed-use development.

The place should be called Astroworld and it should still be around!

Oh well. I wouldn't be able to enjoy it anyways living up here in Philly. There is a 6 flags about an hour away in Jersey. It's just not the same . . .

No it wont happen here because six flags owned Astroworld and they packed up, sold it and left town. Leaving many of us with just great memories. Who remembers the Boogie Fog?

Yeah, those morons. Hosuton dosen't have much to offer in terms of that. Can only think of slash town.. but that's pretty much all we have.

And yes, it could happen here, if six flags would see lots of $$ coming its way. Just cause they packed up once dosen't mean there's no way they will return.

Well if it does happen, don't expect it to be in the near future!
