I'm looking for an inexpensive DJ for a backyard pool party for my teenage daughter. Are there any high school or college kids looking for a DJ gig that won't cost me an arm and leg?

I have no exact lead. But I would check a few online DJ/music forums and post an ad there. Also a craigslist. Not sure if Anglies list would help. Maybe local music store/music college/musical studio? Just trying to brainstorm it here for you...

Glad I could help!

I was thinking to have a similar event for my future children, LOL.

Actually, I was thinking about a few things to potentially increase a popularity for children at school, since this is SO important for them:
- have a local pop singers/dance performers sing/dance a small act at a school brake/after school for a child in front of the crowd. Like a serenade. This would bring attention and lots of "likes".
- Even better, have this music performers rehearse one song with a child and "flashmob" sing/dance it at a school. He/she would be SO popular afterwards at shool. Like a local celebrity.
- make a music video with ones child and let it virus-spread around the school social network. Same here. It should be a great popularity boost.

Here is an example how one dad did a video for his daughter.
Friday - Rebecca Black - Official Music Video - YouTube

She sure became a big hit at school.

This sure costs lots of money (I guess, 5K and up). However, popularity at school is the best way to make new friends and protect one from bullying. IMO.

Her parents paid just $4000 for a video! IMO, it's a small price for popularity and a contract with a music label.
