My bad.
I'm being serious here when I say this: please don't take this forum as a representation of what Houston has to offer in terms of people. This forum has a strong population of bored idiots looking to dissect anything anyone posts and reconstruct it as a reality TV show if it doesn't agree with their political appetites. While there are in fact many genuine people here willing to help where they can, always expect a bunch of aholes to begin with the trolling and attacks before any legit comments are made.

Again, please just skip their posts as one would with junk email.

The guy never mentioned skin color. He said European. There are some very sensitive people on this forum. I learned that just discussing the weather!

The next time someone on here asks where is a good place to live for Asians I'm going to have some fun with that thread.

Mod - please close this thread if possible. I'm not going to answer anymore posts. Thank you.
Hmmm, that sounds familiar...

I was just talking to a friend, and she purchased in Willowbend, 77035. It's a quaint suburb that is close to all the hot spots in town. The elementary school (Red) is good, but it kind of tapers off through jr/high school. Westbury High isn't great, and most people send their kids to Lamar/Bellaire/go private.

This area isn't anything at all like the Woodlands, but it's close to your job. It'd take the edge off of your commute.
I really like Westbury and parts of Sharpstown, but it's still a bit rough on the edges. They're turning around, but it'll definitely take some time. Schools here aren't great either compared to the Woodlands.

What about Sugar Land? I don't venture out that direction often, but it looks an excellent possibility in regards to what you're looking for in terms of shopping/schools/suburbs.

As it appears your workplace is located in the Sharpstown area and near to Beltway 8, I'd suggest you use that traffic route as your commute. Get on Beltway 8 and head north to another thru route such as I-10, US290, or Tx249. Then head west to a neighborhood that suits your needs. Or south towards Sugar Land. Or stay in town and head east to West U or River Oaks. You know how to be safe... just follow the rules.

Maybe even find some acreage and build to suit. Watch for flood plain. Flood waters will flow west and north to south and east.
