The only one on here I haven't seen mentioned is Mongoose versus Cobra. You can take the train between the Flying Saucer (Main Street Square stop) and Mongoose versus Cobra (McGowen stop) as well.

Thank you to the person who mentioned Nobi Public House. It's not 10 minutes from my house.

Coming from a beer snob like myself. In order...

1. Hay Merchant - Can't beat the beer selection and the food is very good. Huge selection of local beers, and beers from across Texas.
2. Mongoose vs. Cobra - Great beer and pretty good food.
3. Petro Station - Great neighborhood bar with a good selection of beer. The first good craft beer bar in Houston. Good food and a bunch of hippies run the place.
4. Moon Tower Inn - They just reponed after a year long remodel. Excellent food and now how 60 beers on tap.
5. D & Q Mini Mart - Go to this place if you want to find some hard to find bottled beers.

this just dawned on me.....if your brother in law is coming to visit, and he's a beer trader....where exactly is he coming from? and what rare beers does he have that he's willing to trade and what would he want in return? i'm up for some trading. if i have something he wants or i can try to get something.

Just got back from Hay Merchant, and it's packed! They were giving out 1st anniversary commemorative pint glasses this afternoon, but silly me, I was at work.

They had some pretty good beers on tap as mentioned by Mr. Krinkle, and bottles of St. Arnold's Divine.

Sunday afternoons at HM are pretty nice and laid back - I'd definitely recommend coming by for some good eats and drink then. (I think I spent the entire evening yelling my conversation across the table tonight.)

Don't forget to check out Houston's Beer Can House. It might be a good morning hangover stop.
