I think that is great for Houston. A lot of people view us as mega-conservative and non-diverse. It will likely be brought up by Colbert that she is the first elected openly gay mayor. That is going to surprise several about Houston.

I will definately see this.. I know the republicans hate him and Mr. Stewart, and there are quite a few republicans in the Houston area... wonder how they feel about this...

No. We Republicans don't hate him. We know how he gets his laughs on one side of the partisan. I for one an happy Annise gets to spout about Htown. I hope and expect she reflects us well, as some of our industires are politically unpopular. I think more folks pay attention to Stewart and Colbert than 'news conferences'.

I KNOW more people pay attention and watch those two guys more than news conferences (especially in the younger demographic)... and I wish there was a comedian that could do what they do on the other side of the partisan.. so we have both sides...

They do make fun of both sides, but its just that it is much easier to make fun at the Republicans expense than at the democrats.

I mean look at Romney, look at McCain, Look at Bush. Compare that to Obama, John Kerry and Al Gore? they are more soft spoken, mild mannered, more sterile characters than the republican counterpart.

Sarah Palin is a hoot compared to Hillary. Face it, the Republicans put more out there to make fun off. I think its mainly how they present their social stances. It makes them seem bonkers. If they focus more on economics they would seem less crazy than the democrats

I am not a witch??? Come on? That is just begging to be made fun of.
