If Houston is gaining and Chicago is losing, you can't see the gap closing in? I thought it was closing in now.

Besides bragging rights of being #3 ..... do we get anything else?
Because I can easily think of 1000 things more important than "We have more people than you!"

Each resident of Houston will receive a lovely plaque that reads, "We're #3!". You can hang it on your wall and reflect upon it with pride.

Agreed. Because until Houston starts getting any respect -- meaning, actually shown on national weather maps instead of El Paso and Austin, not continually trashed and underrated, mentioned in the mainstream media for positives and not just negatives, not constantly ignored and thrown aside (basically, treatment it already should be getting considering its size and stature), I'm not sure that many people here care about the actual number of residents. Just my observation...

When are we gonna get the "We're #4" plaque?

Maybe the ranking can bring recognition.

Isn't there another thread on here talking about the population of Houston decreasing? Anyway, Houston will not pass Chicago in terms of population because the city is not built that way. There is too much space between buildings. The city would have to undergo a major facelift.

Sounds like you've been watching TXCN, the Dallas-based Belo statewide cable station.

If it makes you feel better, I was at Café Kubo's a few weeks ago and saw Houston on the TV Japan (NHK) weather report but no sign of Dallas.

Be sure to give yourself a well deserved pat on the back.

Ridiculous. Dallas should have nothing to do with this thread unless youre simply incapable of discussing Houston without Dallas. Ive seen both Dallas and Houston on weather maps internationally. If this is a pride issue or a sticking point for you (the weather maps), youre pathetic.
