We will be moving quickly to the Spring area from the midwest and I have really found this site helpful - thanks for that! Just had a few random questions:

1. Which HS is better - Klein Collins of Klein Oak and why?

2. Does the Challenger soccer club train in Spring? Anyone with input about that program?

3. Looking for a good baseball team for my 11 year old son who plays travel ball. Any suggestions?

4. Favorite subdivisions in the Klein ISD?

Any other information that you find helpful or think we should know would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The high school question is going to get you some subjective answers. My two graduated from Collins. They know how to read and write, graduated from college, and are living productive lives. In my opinion Collins rocks! Others will prefer Klein High.

I can't answer the other questions, but I lived in Spring for over 20 years in the Klein school district. As far as developments go, you need to give us a LOT more info, as to what you're looking for.

Price range? Old or new? Square footage? Closer to I45 or FM 249?

Thanks for your response

My husband will be working downtown. I have not been to the area so not really sure if I should be looking near I45 or FM249. I love the idea of an older home, if I can find one that is energy efficient as I've read on this board that people are spending major $$ cooling their older homes. I have 2 kids, ages 13 & 11 and hope to find a neighborhood filled with kids in similar age groups. From all that I've read and researched, Klein ISD is where to be. Price range up to $300k, with minimum of 2250 square feet would be great!

Other than that, I'm open for suggestions!

I think that living closer to 45 as opposed to 249 is a better commute to downtown, but I'm not from that area so no suggestions on neighborhoods. Good luck!

Yep, you want to be closer to I 45.

Look in Country Lake Estates, Estates at Creek's End, Cypresswood Glen (and Cypresswood Glen Estates), The Thicket at Cypresswood, Wimbledon Champions, Spring Creek Oaks, Terranova West and Memorial Northwest.

Some of these will be older developments, but that doesn't mean that sellers haven't done energy efficient upgrades. A LOT of roofs along the I45 corridor had to be replaced after Hurricane Ike, so be on the lookout for that while you're looking.

Basically, you want to look in 77388 (the closest to I45 - Klein Collins) and 77379 (for the most part, Klein High).

If you want to be a little further out, you can also look in Northampton, Auburn Lakes, The Preserve and Augusta Pines. These are in the 77389 zip code, and north of FM 2920. Spring-Stuebner will be getting widened soon, so the commute may get worse for awhile, but it will be a lot better once it's completed.

A little further down, and closer to FM 249, but nice, would be Gleannloch Farms. It's Spring's only master-planned community.

Grew up in spring creek oaks. Nice neighborhood, but not the same since they cut tc jester through. Too many people speeding down it now,

I'm surprised, because there is always a Constable sitting there when I drive down it. There have obviously been some major complaints.

I'm glad to hear the constable is there. Probably makes good money because people come flying by the farm between 40-50, 60+ some nights.

I would suggest you to live close to Louetta Rd.
The traffic on that road seems to flow much better than on 2920 (worse) and Spring-Stuebner (much worse) and it also takes you straight into the Hardy Toll Rd. if you wanted to use it.

People have told me that Windrose is pretty nice.

I completely left out Windrose! Spring has two master-planned communities. Also look at Stone Forest and Senterra Lakes.

I agree about Spring-Stuebner, but with the widening of that road and Gosling, it'll get better eventually. FM 2920 definitely has its areas that I can't stand.
