I find it funny that someone from Brooklyn would call Houston ghetto and crime ridden. Hilarious.

Just a random question: Are you an your family planning to move there some day?
ALREADY A DONE DEAL... family moving out there permanently end of June...I will be following them march of 2013...of course visiting them throughout while I still have to stay in NY.... kids have to start school there in Aug ]. It also wasn't all about living in a BIG home ect.... [ but it is nice to give all my kids their own bedroom.. } ...ya just feel it ...hard to explain.. We felt our kids will have a better opportunity in their future there, QUALITY OF LIFE JUMP! the people, lifestyle & weather is AWESOME , and we just have a really good feeling about the move. Yeah ..it's a BIG move...about 1700 miles...we caught alot of crap from the family in regards to moving away but We have to do what WE FEEL is best for our children and us as well. we have no family there, 1 friend that actually was the one that got us to go and see for ourselves. but we know this is the right move...were nice people i think...we'll make friends...LOL. everyone here { NY } say's ..."you"ll be back " ...NOT A CHANCE, even if in a few years we feel where were living isn't what we thought it would be were still not coming back to NY.. I tell them...Ya'll understand when ya get there to see...and if ya don't...it's not for you. God Bless TEXAS!!

The person you are referencing was a troll, so I wouldn't pay any attention to what he was saying.

I never lived in Houston but living and NY and knowing what Brooklyn is about I actually thought the same lol.

I am from Queens and can definitely say that many crazy things happen in Brooklyn, we hear it everyday.

GIDDY UP!!!

Its exciting for me to know others from Ny with my same perspective in life. I mean I was born and raised in NY but can really say that I am tired of the same routine.

I am happy for you and your family and wish ya the best of luck ...I hate when people tell me the same ( that I will be back in NY) I really hope that is not true.

I am visiting in May 2012 and hopefully I should be done with college by the begining of 2013, so I can move by the spring maximum. The only reason I won't move before is because the college I attend does not have a campus out there and I do not find online classes good for me.

I really hope I like it because that would be a great change in my life, most importantly it would be different.

Will you be moving in the inner loop or a suburb?

Are you renting or buying?

I'm really happy to see that so many NY'ers and other East Coast folks are finding and calling Houston their new home. Texas and Houston are amazing places, soaked with history and culture, and is a place that I'm very proud to call my home.

Welcome aboard and I wish you the best of luck on your new journey! God bless!

Compared to other big "top ten" metros in warm climates such as LA, Miami, and Atlanta, I'd say the lower cost of housing and lower taxes are the differentiators, along with more friendly residents.
