The thing about SF is that it is a really beautiful city, but the weather is awful! I do miss A LOT about it though despite the weather.

Speaking of weather.... I have LOVED the weather here in Houston this past week, especially yesterday! Despite the rain today, the temperature was nearly perfect. And when the sun was out, it was absolutely beautiful weather!
What is your opinion of Haight-Ashbury and Chinatown?

Houston is unique. Houston is the energy capital. Houston is Space city..NASA, anyone? Houston has the largest medical campus on earth. Best doctors in the world. People fly into Houston for medical treatment from all around the world...something Houston is proud of.

We have the Galleria, Uptown, Montrose, Upper Kirby, West U, The Heights and other of great hoods in the Houston Metro area.

We have great universities such as Rice and U of H ..an example of private and public education.

Houston is affordable. Yes, you can go out to a movie and dinner after paying your bills unlike most major cities. Houston is one of only a few places in the nation with resident, professional companies in the four major disciplines of performing arts—ballet, opera, symphony and theater.

We have Football, Baseball, Basketball and Soccer teams. A new stadium is being built for the Dynamos.

We have the Rodeo every year. All kinds of festivals year round...and I can go on and on and on.

Those who complain need to do research on the tons of activities and places to enjoy in Houston, instead of whining.
The only thing Houston is lacking is a hockey team & I've never cared for the sport anyhow.

And for an 18 mile stretch from Highway 6 to Downtown(i-10) and Uptown Galleria(Westheimer road) , you dont see deserted land. Its full of commercial establishments which I could never see in any of the places mentioned above.

An 18-mile stretch of roadway lined with commercial establishments is quite impressive, either in a good way or a bad way. There are no residential areas along the stretch of roadway being described?

The Gulf freeway has "commercial establishments" for about 10 miles....
