Ugh. They just showed it on the news. Like 3 groups of people robbed, including a truck driver who was stopped in the Heights. I mean that's pretty nuts to rob a truck driver - you KNOW lots of those guys are armed.

I've been robbed at gunpoint before, I know a lot of other people who have been robbed before as well in this city.

Why can't Houston be safer like other big cities!

Well that's a pretty small sample size lol since there's only 3 cities bigger than Houston. But...

Well, NYC, San Diego, Los Angeles I know are all safer than Houston, in terms of violent crime/murder rates. So 2/3 of the cities bigger than us are safer (actually by quite a bit they are safer). Lots of smaller big cities are safer - Austin, San Antonio, San Francisco, Boston, Seattle, etc. etc.

Also like Chicago even though it has a pretty high murder rate, it's concentrated on the south side. In Houston it doesn't matter where you are - just look at a crime map!

Yes...please do tell...what other large cities are safer? New York? Chicago? Don't think so! You live in a large city, one is bound to have the thugs and thieves...and in this economy, it has only gotten worse.

I'm surprised as in a conceal and carry state Id expect robbery to be lower. But anytime the economy is down and people are out of work, petty crimes go up.

You obviously have never spent any time in NY or LA

Of course I have. What does that mean? Are you saying the statistics are lying??? You're more likely to get randomly robbed or shot in Houston than those 2 cities. Statistics are superior to anecdotes!

Have no idea if these stats are true...but this states crimes are actually down! With Houston being at a all time best in 40 years! It also says Houston is 8th in violence in comparison with other large cities.

8th in violence for all big cities combined? That's pretty bad. Or are you saying it's LOWEST 8th in violence in all big cities combined. That'd be pretty good!

Still, we should be more like LA and NYC in crime!
