Greenspoint is not that bad anymore, Gunspoint is an old nickname but they have cleaned things up a lot since then.

I hadn't heard that, but it's been a 3 years since I worked over there. But really-- what is there to do in Greenspoint? Car shop at one of the many lots packed together?

He is just looking for a cheap place to stay while he explores Houston. Greenspoint is fairly convenient to all parts of town.

I just need a place to crash at night after I spend my days sight seeing, exploring, eating in restaurants, etc. I will have a rental car. Without a rental car, exploring Houston would be very difficult indeed according to the research I have done. The city is over 600 square miles! I want to go to Houston Heights, Montrose, TMC, Sugarland, The Woodlands, Katy. I need to get to know Houston and its suburbs before I decide whether or not to move there.

For the sake of safety, I will be wearing a cheap watch and carrying a cheap wallet with only the money I need for daily activities. I will stay out of Alief and The third ward. I will keep a low profile.

LOL speaking of a "friend"... How are the women in Houston? In Miami there are many beautiful women but they are extremely difficult to approach. If I move to Houston, I truly would like to eventually meet someone.

Thank you for posting/responding

If you can survive 14 nights in Greenspoint then I don't think you would have a problem in Alief or 3rd Ward. Just be cautious anywhere you go. You could easily become a victim of crime anywhere in the Houston area. West Houston Medical Center is in Alief so avoiding that area would just be limiting your job options.

I am a registered nurse here in Houston and believe me, you will not have a problem finding a job. I walked into a hospital when I got here and walked out with a job and start date. In the Medical Center they prefer BSN's over RN's and some hospitals won't even hire RN's. The fact that you are willing to work at night, pretty much guarantees you a job. Consider an apartment around the Medical Center because traffic is a nightmare and parking is 12.00 a day. Good luck!

as a student in the inner city, also studying for medicine, i search the cost of living around the medical center constantly as im apartment searching myself, and honestly, for 1200 you could land a 2 bedroom around fannin south along our only rail line. Which is in one of the more urban areas of town, within 3 miles of TMC and herman park, the zoo ect. You could get a simple 1 bed for more like 800 a month, Good luck

Thanks for responding, TrailNurse and 300zxtwinturbo

I am looking forward to my up-coming trip to Houston. TrailNurse that is great that you got a job that easily. Here in South florida it is much more difficult. Does anyone know the better hospitals to work for in Houston? I mean in terms of pay, benefits, and work culture for nurses.
