I love Graffiti and I was wondering if anybody could tell me what are some of the best graffiti areas in the City of Houston. I would like to take some pics of some artwork before the city takes them down. And please leave the negative comments you have about graffiti out of this thread. I don't want the thread to turn into a back and forth argument on the issue, just looking for some good Graffiti spots that's all.

You should go to L.A. That's a graffiti lover's (didn't know there was such a thing) paradise.

Defacing other peoples' property is a douchebag act, sorry if that hurts your widdle feelings to hear. If you want to look at art, go to a gallery or have some punk break in your house at 3:00am with a can of spray paint and let them go nuts on your property. It sucks that our already broke city has to spend taxpayer money to clean up graffiti.

I didn't check on that lately, but there used to be some really nice spots right near HCC in downtown and also near Minute Maid park.
Downtown near Crawford & Elgin - there is an auto parts building covered with fine graffiti. ( near Elizabeth Baldwin park ).

Also check those places, I heard about:
Oscar's Club is on Cavalcade & Cochran
Movie Magic is on Irvington & Canadian:
There is a Tattoo shop near Cavalcade & Fulton:

Just remember about private property rights.
For those that think that graffiti is only an ugly and obscene form of vandalism, check here:

Specifically Houston:
Graffiti / Art / Urban - a set on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/iseenit/sets/72157604184553355/ - broken link)
Graffiti Pano/Stitch - a set on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/iseenit/sets/72157604692294535/ - broken link)

You can DM this City-Data member: jfre81 and ask him about. He is walking the streets and making awesome albums about Houston. I am sure that he knows some great places.

To me the attractiveness or artistic content of graffiti is irrelevant. The right of a property owner to choose whether or not to have their property spray painted on trumps all. In the case of government owned property, we don't live in a society where anarchy reigns - there is a process to how art if/is applied to publicly owned property. It shouldn't default to whomever can evade authorities to do their thing.

Graffiti is often used by gangs to mark their territory. Check the areas with the highest crime rates and that is where you will find your graffiti.

My advice was actually correct. Incidences of graffiti increase with the crime rate. You asked where to find it. I am telling you. This is not a stereotype.
