And Katy in one fell swoop if they build it somewhere in the Waterside Estates/ Aliana/Pecan Grove area. I'm thinking Harlem and 99 is a good spot.

Katy will now have 2 stores to choose from.

But what if Fort Bend County explodes to be the "Orange County" of the South? More than 1 might be necessary.

I have actually emailed Costco asking if they are planning to open a store in Sugar Land. Yea, they didn't give out a hint!

Here is their response:

Currently we do not have any public information regarding plans to open a Costco in your area.
Our real estate department is continually looking for ideas for new locations around the country and around the world. We will forward your suggestion to our Real Estate Department so they are aware of your interest.

"...we do not have any public information regarding plans" means, "We could be opening a store there tomorrow but we wouldn't tell you today."

The good thing is you got a response. They will not divulge any information because it is a competitive info (Costco is a public company). BJ's or other wholesalers might steal their potential location(s).

Yes the rumors are true, i work at the costco in the galleria area. i live in the woodlands area though, so i have been pressing more info on the new costco's. it seems we are to build 2 new locations, sugarland and woodlands. i actually was offered position at sam's at 10.60 an hour, 3 miles down the road on 1960, but took the costco offer at 11, now much higher, and much further away due to quality of employment. it's an awesome place, i get a free membership since i work there, and if i ever leave costco, i'll buy a membership, i am a big meat eater, and the butcher service is amazing, the deli, the bakery...all fields above even HEB.

i work tire shop, and am very serious. and the time from won't be until late next year to early 2013. not the soonest, but the figures list the galleria store broke several records upon opening, and the hopeful shareholders would love to see another jump in share trade, as well as houston's sheer size increase.

That would be great if Costco would build a new store off highway 6 and fort bend tollway. I know that they are building a town center near Sienna Plantation and a new walmart around there. I was unaware that they were thinking about building a new Costco. That would be an ideal location right there. Now if LL.Beans would build in the Houston area. We need LL.Beans down here. That would be awesome.

For any new major stores/developments to Sugar Land, I really hope they don't cram more in First Colony -- already a really packed area with tons of other stuff. I hope any new places go out just a bit to the Telfair, New Territory, Imperial/Airport, or even Aliana/Grand Parkway areas. All growing areas which appear currently under-served and lacking in retail/commercial development in comparison, and would be much more pleasant to navigate than the jam-packed First Colony and SL Town Center.
