I had a Genie in a previous house. 14 years and it was still going strong. Not a single issue.
It was installed by Home Depot (well, the installer they sub-contracted with).

I've been thinking about, this time, getting one from a garage door place. But I got the last one at Home Depot and had no issues -- with the opener or the sub-contracted installer who came out.

So I'm planning to go with Home Depot again.
For all I've read it's not a difficult installation. And just like the garage door people do garage doors and openers for a living. I'm betting the HD sub-contractor will also know what he's doing. It's likely not his first rodeo either

Besides, HD may subcontract with garage door companies. So you could get the same installer anyway.

I had my garage door opener installed two years ago by my handyman. I let him pick a good garage door opener (since I had no idea), and install it. He did a terrific job, as he always does. So, I had more confidence in him than I have with HD. If if you have a really good handyman, that's another option.

We bought ours at Home Depot and had it installed by them. The guy that installed it actually was a garage door opener installer.

He even programmed our car for us. It took him a minute where it would have taken us at least half an hour just reading the manual and trying to figure it out.
