Our breakfast nook is in the front of our home, on the main street thru our area, with an 8x6 bay window. My husband likes the open feel, I don't. Daytime no problem but evenings, early mornings I feel "exposed."
I have looked at Roman shades on JFB's website and just want to know if you've used them, were you satisfied.
Hi Lacey....I know how you feel. We have double windows in my livingroom that were left without treatments for years. I just didn't know what to do with them and didn't want to waste money. The only saving grace is that we live on a busy road and felt they should be going fast enough not to check us out. I haven't used jut blinds but I checked out budget blinds and I thought they were expensive. Check out Lowes or Homedepot and look for their sales. They were cheaper than budget blinds. We bought levelor roman shades and I love them.
Thanx Casey-NJ, huh? That's where we're from, moved to MN in 2005. Kids are still there (shore area).
Just FB had 8x6 cloth Roman for $299.
Husband says I'm paranoid, maybe I am and it's not like we run around here in the buff!! But a neighbor wrote in their Christmas card "see you guys every morning and night sitting, etc." I sort of got the creeps.
yeah, that would not fly with me. I would be getting something pronto...lol. I paid $180 for a shade and I went with the hobbled shade opposed to the flat, that is just my taste. THere were many options for these shades. I am also from the shore. Hope you find what you are looking for.
Depending on what you are looking for you can get them for a lot less money at Home Depot, Menards or even Target. Target actually has a good selection of blinds, shades, etc. I got some faux wood blinds for our computer room at Menards not long ago for $20. They match the trim on the windows perfectly.
I also have a friend that makes custom drapes, etc. and her prices on blinds are very good compared to the online sites. You might want to consider going that route too.
Went to a local design center and they said that due to width it would have to be in 2 to 3 sections and I definitely don't want that.
What do you mean about 2 or 3 sections and not wanting to do that? Do you have a bank of windows so there are 3 separate window casings? What I am picturing it would look just fine to do each window separably--and it is usually less expensive to buy smaller width blinds then one larger one.
You might also want to consider a balloon shade as an alternative to a Roman Shade. I like looking at JCPenny's online under the "soft shade" category. Maybe you could do a sheer balloon shade? Just an idea. I like Target online too.
Golfgal-it's a bay window 8'x6', picture window in middle, casements on ends with beautiful wood trim-I want sonething outside mounted, not individuals for each window. Went to local Cowing Robards and they're the ones said 3 treatments.
I would look for some panel curtains of some kind then. Outside mount shades/blinds are going to look awkward in a bay window. Something like these. They would be easy to open/close and would not really be in the way.
