why do any of these things when an alarm system is much easier to use, and you will sleep better. You're way over thinking the cure to your problem

I think the plexiglass idea is a terrible solution. Very tacky. Think of resale. Think of how expensive it will be to replace your windows if it goes wrong.

There are many other low tech ways you can protect your home. Plant thorny bushes. Install beautiful wrought iron. Anything but plexiglass.

And, honestly, if someone wants to break in, nothing will stop them. It's just a fact.

We did this on some pane windows on a sun porch. We lived on the border of Detroit and there were a lot of break in's in our area. We put plexi over a few of the small panes that were located right by the door knob. It was an old house and single paned glass so a slight punch would have knocked out the window and easy access to simply unlock the door. But it was small windows. I like the thorny bush ideas better for the windows you have.
