I'm looking at buying a Honda Accord Coupe. The one I'm looking at is used obviously, but with 80k miles, and a carfax that doesn't tell me much other than that it was locally owned here in the DC area, which likely means a **** ton of stop and go traffic.

But it's about 14k. Anyway, normally I would wanna go certified used, but a certified used one would be a few thousand more for pretty much an absolute base model.

Yea it'll have less miles but the cheapest is one year newer, an 09, with 50k miles, and it's totally base, vs the one I'm looking at with the leather and heated seats and sunroof and better sound and climate control yadda yadda yadda.

Anyway, are there any reliability issues I should know about? I'll want to run it past a mechanic to give it a look over and all that. Anything that I should look out for?

Also, it's being sold by a Honda Dealership, which I hope means they have the mechanics who can look at any inventory they get to see okay is this car a POS or not and is it worth buying and selling.

But maybe that's not the case.

I think the V6 models had some transmission issues, not sure about the 4cyl version though.

Yes on the tranny issues,(6cyl) but not that bad if you take care of it/maintain it.

They had rear brake issues, not a big deal, just get them changed BEFORE they make noise and or have the update done to the pads and something to do with the brake bias control. They are good cars.

There's zero transmission issues with an 08 v6 Accord. The late 90s early 00s had some issues.
