I do know about how difficult it is for places like Winnipeg to attract top level sports talent. But I do like the way the management is handling and developing the talent they've been dealt. They seem to take the slow and steady approach to building a team, and I think they will definitely keep the division on their toes for a number of years at the least...

Part of the linked article has the following paragraphs (read it yourself if you don't believe me):

Quote:
In short, this is not the coldest large city on the planet — though it certainly is one of the coldest, according to climate data available online.

The Russian city of Yakutsk and the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar are significantly colder than Winnipeg in January.

Irkutsk, also in Russia, and the northern Chinese city of Harbin are slightly colder than we are, while January in the Siberian vacation destinations of Novosibirsk and Omsk is just as cold as it is in Winnipeg.

Here are the populations of the cities mentioned in the article on Winnipeg's winter (as per Google):

Significantly Colder:
Yakutsk - 282K residents
Ulan Bator - 1.38 million residents

Slightly Colder:
Irkutsk - 601K residents
Harbin - 10.64 million residents

On Par With Winnipeg:
Novosibirsk - 1.511 million residents
Omsk - 1.159 million residents

The Buffalo Sabres are not going to improve solely on winning the draft lottery and drafting a quality player. They need to stay afloat by getting rid of baggage players.

Since Bettman became comish in 1993 no Canadian team has won the Stanley cup since the 93 Habs, i believe this trend will continue.

I don't blame people who say Buttman rigs the games when they are "at risk" (in his eyes) of winning the Stanley Cup!
