I was never a fan of Emery so I guess I'd pick up Leighton's option and keep Boucher as the backup but keep my ears open up to the deadline. They kind of remind me of the early 2000s Eagles. A lot of talent overall but just sorely lacking at one position.
What teams in the league have 2 good goalies but a weak offense?
I can answer this one.....the Bruins; good goaltending with Rask and Thomas, but they can't put the puck in the ocean from the pier ( lowest scoring team in the league).

Kept an eye on the draft last night at the pub. I thought the highlight was the 10th pick by the Rangers. The crawl on the screen describing the kid said 'Nicknamed the Undertaker'......'not a great decision maker but brings a lot of anger and mayhem'. You dont see that in too many other drafts.

The Philadelphia Flyers have apparently reached a verbal agreement with the San Jose Sharks for the signing rights to Evgeni Nabokov who is not going to be back with the Sharks. I'm wondering where the Flyers would get the cap room to sign Nabokov (maybe getting rid of Gagne or Briere?) who will be looking for a contract in the 4.5 to 5.5 million/season range. If they do sign Nabokov the Flyers will get a durable, solid, Vezina nominee in net for the first time in quite awhile (Hextall?).

So the Flyers give-up Parent (D) to the Preds for ONLY the RIGHTS to Dan Hamhuis, can't get a deal made with him, and then turn around within a week and give the rights to Hamhuis away to the Penguins for a 3rd round pick next year.

So they basically got a 3rd round pick next year for Parent.

Hamhuis will probably end up with the Penguins for several reasons.....Ray Shero (Pens GM) drafted Hamhuis initially when he was with the Preds, the Pens have the cap space to afford him, and the main reason he wouldn't sign with the Flyers was because he wants to have a role that he couldn't be promised there, while that same role is exactly what the Pens are looking for.

Anyone know anything about the rumor of Martin Biron coming back to Buffalo. I said we should've never let him go. Rumor has it... once again.. he may come back.

I couldn't find any rumors around online about Nabakov. That'd be great but I'm not getting my hopes up....

I see Nabakov as a regular season only goalie. He tends to choke in pressure situations in playoffs and Olympics. I don't think he is worth the price he will be asking.
