So I guess I'll be the first to mention here that Rod Brind'Amour retired on June 30th. Thanks for the memories Rod!
What a terrific player Brind'Amour was. I thought trading him was one of the worse decisions the Flyers ever made. He was tough, hard-working, never afraid to go into the corners and would fight anyone who took a cheap shot at a teammate. Rod made everyone around him better, on and off the ice.
The Flyers traded Simon Gagne to Tampa Bay for Matt Walker and a 4th round pick.
I don't much about Walker but I really hope Holmgren isn't done trading yet. The Flyers still need scorers now that he has plenty of defensemen. They also need to resign Asham.

Walker will be competing for the #6 d-man spot with Bartulis. I don't know if that's a good thing or not but we shall see how they proceed.
Niemi becomes a free agent; Hawks about to sign Tucro for 1.3 M; Niemi might be left out in the cold; although Nabakov got his money, he had to go the USSR to get it...
Rumor that Modano is going to sign with the Wings.
