I have never been to hawii but I think you were probably asking about Hawaii. Seeing how you are from the UK, maybe you might know them better as The Sandwich Islands. Sandwich Islands - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia You can find more information on Hawaii here. Hawaii - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HI was a state in 1961.

I consider myself to be better-informed than the average American, and I'd never heard of the long form vs. the short form, either. All I've ever been asked for is "a copy of your birth certificate," which is something my parents obtained for me soon after my birth, and which has been accepted by whatever authority has asked for it. My wife was born in Hawaii in 1950, and a similar copy of her birth certificate was all she needed to obtain the highest-level security clearance for a city government job on the mainland. She'd never heard of the long form, either. I don't think it was common knowledge before this ridiculous controversy.

No other president has been asked to produce their LONG FORM birth certificate because no other president was BLACK. If it was a white guy from Hawaii there would not have been a birth issue.

Nobody gave Obama a pass, they tried everything to say he was not american citizen born in amaerica. I'll tell you what alkl this said to me. It said we the people of the US other than Hawaii don;t trust Hawaii goverment to be honest, truthful, and accurate in their official records. We the people of the other 49 true United States think Hawaii and Hawaiiians are cheaters and lyers so we don't belive their official papers. This was not only about people accusuing Obama if not being a american born citizen. This was about the others saying WE DON'T TRUST HAWAII!
This is all speculative, of course, but I think it's primarily been about Obama's being Black (half Black, which makes him all Black to most people, but that's another issue entirely) and being what some people perceive as a Socialist and a Muslim sympathizer. The people who hate him really hate him, and he probably would have been asked to produce the long form of his birth certificate no matter what state he'd been born in. I also suspect it would have been the same had he been a white, Socialist, Muslim sympathizer born in Hawaii (or any other state), with, say, a French father and a mother who was visiting France late in her pregnancy.

At any rate, I hope this issue is finally put to rest (some people expected Donald Trump to claim that Obama's long-form birth certificate must be a forgery), and that people judge Obama on the decisions he makes as President. I also find it difficult to believe that Donald Trump actually believed his own accusations. I think it was just his latest attempt to get publicity by saying and doing outrageous things, just as his supposed interest in running for President is.

And it bears the embossed seal of the state that issued it.

The "long form" is the original hand signed form filed by the delivering doctor. Once it is filed with the state Health Department, the info goes into a computer database, from which official copies are printed. You don't get a photocopy of the original, you get a computer printout, which is then embossed to make it official.

So much nonsense over nothing!
That's why I posted the question on the Hawaii forum page. I had gotten no answers before & no one around here had ever heard of different forms of birth certificates either. I figured that people from Hawaii would know the system & procedures there. Logical thought or not? I had no intentions of firing people up so much & never insinuated that Hawaii is not a US state in good standing with the rest of the nation. I still hope to visit there one day. You won't run me out, will you?

jmellc, if you come to Hawaii with a true understanding of what "Aloha" means, then we won't run you out. Maybe your time could be better spent researching what that word truly means.

If you continue to bring up nonsensical issues on this forum, then we just might "run you out".

Give 'em enough mai tais and even silly birthers will mellow out no doubt. Either that or get even sillier and that has a pretty big amusement factor, too. Or we could charge 'em double for drinks, that would be worthwhile, too.
