Is an FFL required for a private party transfer in your state?
Lots of ways to market your gun on the internet. Just make sure you complete the transaction completely.
I've bought and sold hundreds of guns through private party transactions since it became law in Kommiefornia many years ago to complete the transaction through an FFL.
The internet is your friend. Spend some time finding out how other gun owners in your state use the internet to buy and sell guns.
Aww the good old days of gun transactions in the supermarket parking lot.
Sold a shotgun I don't use any more to a local guy in my garage.....bought a 1911 from another guy that had it for sale - met at his house, no muss, no fuss.
Thank you so much for this lead. Have checked out the website and this is exactly what I am looking for. As a she person...I would not feel comfortable selling my gun to an private party unless I find an appropriate size male chaperone to escort me Sorry ladies...I might be a pistol packing granny however one can not be to careful!
Wish I had contacts out by you....I'd get you enough beef-eaters to escort you that'd make the Jolly Green Giant look like a wimp... Actually, in my experience, MOST gun owners are very respectable, but when you're advertising in a public forum, I can understand your reluctance. Best of luck to you!
Hi...need some assistance please selling my Beretta 9MM PX4 Storm Compact safely. By safely I wish to, in good conscience sell it to a responsible party or dealer that I can be "free" of any registration responsibility. The store I purchased it from does not handle repurchases.
I realize of course to sell it will mean I will not recover my original investment. In addition I have purchased an extra magazine that holds an additional 17 rounds that would go with it.
The gun is hardly used and I have all the original paperwork, box etc. Most recently I had it on consignment at a local gun store however there was no interest. The dealer sells new ones and his followers prefers Glocks.
I am very suspicious of "pawn shops" even though there are several around that seem to do a business and show they purchase firearms.
In closing I also have ammo which the local gun dealer was only gonna give me pennies on the dollar, really? Any suggestions?
Just so you will know, the dealer can not resell the ammo you have, it is strictly against the law for him to sell it, so that is why the pennies on the dollar. Try GunBroker to sell your gun. Yes, you will have to register with them to sell it, but you will probably get what someone is willing to pay for your gun. Very few gun shops are in the business of buying back guns when they can buy a new one for less than what you want for your used gun. Dealers sell guns to make a profit, in order to make a profit on a used gun they have to buy it cheap, and most people are not willing to sell their guns cheap.
Otherwise gunbroker, but then you have the hassle of getting an FFL, shipping it (you MUST use ups or fedex air and you must ship it in person). Or, what I would do, you can get an FFL on your end to ship it priority mail for ten bucks, but they'll charge you $20 for the trouble.

I have no doubt that you could deliver on your offer if I lived closer I might take you up on it. Kinda looks like maybe I should of purchased a Glock...better resale market. Oh well..Maybe a gun show run might be fruitful except I just missed the one in our area
