No, not at all. I believe that the US and England will always have a relationship like no other as we both use the English language and our beginnings are mostly of English origin.

We also like alot of the things the English do.

Generally speaking Americans really like the English. I don't, but most do. Americans are also able to separate a corporation from its national headquarters and I believe BP was created by a merger of Amoco with a British firm anyway.

And it's not even like I dislike the English, heck I am largely of English descent and my last name is English. (And being withheld for security reasons) It's more like the pop-culture image I got of the English originally made me see them as overly sarcastic emotionally distant people who hate Catholics and can be rude to a point bordering on cruelty. A few English people online also fit that, but many don't and besides that there are plenty of cruel sarcastic superior acting jerks in the US. Or any country I suppose. So I've mostly moved on from any prejudice I may have had in youth, but I would say if I have any ethnic prejudice it might be a lingering one to English. I'm a self-loathing English American I suppose

That's not the common view though. The majority of Americans are either Protestant or irreligious so wouldn't think about the Catholic issue. And also many see the English in very romantic terms and as our constant ally in our many wars. The English are probably the best liked nationality in America I'd say. Maybe Australia is roughly equal. (Canada turned off our conservative section what with Vietnam, Iraq, and gay marriage)

I don't know that I'd say Americans have no anti-national biases, but even in cases of "enemy nations" we often separate governments from their people pretty well. We maybe didn't do that so much to the Japanese in the war, or in the 1980s "trade war" for that matter, but that might be partly racism rather than just a nationality thing. Also in the 1980s one I think only a minority of Americans were really anti-Japanese.

I think it is more likely to be the other way around. If you watch BBC America- check out how Americans are often portrayed... fat, stupid, loud, and uncultured. Talk about a stereotype.

It's just a few reporters trying to sell newspapers. Mark Mardell has an interesting post on his BBC blog
(BBC - Mark Mardell's America: No Brit-bashing in US over BP imbroglio).

Lol this isn't the 1700's, Americans don't hate British people, that article was probably a joke. Never take the media seriously.
