I personally can attest for both Detroit and Flint to be "miserable". Having lived in Detroit and many visits to Flint on a number of occasions

Flint's misery permeates the air as would a dead carcass of any mammal that's slowly rotting away on the side of the road. It's strange, i tell you. Having lived in one of Detroit's more "miserable" sections, i thought it couldn't get any miserable than that of Flint's.

What i've concluded during my days of living in Detroit is that if i were poor and had a choice to live in the city or in the country. I'd take the country in a heartbeat. It's way easier to be poor in the country. (ok...off my soapbox now...)

Exactly. You should have said that on the 'City vs Country' thread -

Very clever.

Stuck what section of the city do you live in that makes you hate Philadlephia so much? And its only fair to Philadelphia to have someone counteract your constant perpetual negative vibe. The reality is that 1/3 of Philadlephia is arguably world class, 1/3 is solid middle class, and 1/3 is just bombed out by the hood rats. I'm doing my duty to tell the good folk that 2/3 of Philly is solid to excellent. And I'll be the first to tell you that the other 1/3 is hell on earth.

You should first start performing your 'duty' of prefacing your 'information' as being second hand as you have not stated where or even if you've ever lived in the city itself!
At the same time I must perform a 'duty' and let everyone know about Villanova, where supposedly you reside...

Villanova is a community that is part of the Pennsylvania Main Line.
The most notable feature of Villanova, other than its extraordinary wealth, is Villanova University, from which the community gains its name. It is also home to many notable names in sports...

And it is Not considered a Philadelphia address!

So for you to speak from any sort of 'first hand experience' baffles me.

Once more I must remind you where I currently reside(as if you hadn't paid attention to my screenname info prominently displayed here)...I am technically in what is considered 'the northeast',and previously I was in south Philadelphia. And if I may let you in on a little of my history...I am Not from Philadelphia Or any city for that matter. I was raised in the country of northwest New Jersey and have lived in various areas of the east coast and I have Never had any of the crazy, backwards experiences Anywhere in all of my 36 years than I've had in the nearly 5 years of being stuck here...

And I say stuck because I currently have 'family' obligations to fill as well as some financial so I in effect cannot leave anytime soon.

In the meantime I will continue to state my experiences everywhere that I can.

So if you would, file that in your records and let us move on.

I can definatly see Detroit and Flint on there.

And for the California cities too. I mean Stockton has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation.

And as far as some of the opinions go on here, that is fine, but when some state it like a fact, then you are wrong. Cleveland, Baltimore and Pittsburgh are not dead or dying rest-belt cities. They have made huge comebacks, are voted some of the most livable in the country, have some of the best medical economies in the country, some of the best hospitals. Forget 30 years ago, visit these cities today and you will see 3 completely different cities.
