I'm sitting here in the basement (the unfinished side) and a cricket just bounced off my foot. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
I just leveled two of them. Gross !!!
The poured concrete walls have silver insulation and I think the little beastards are hiding in it. The sound is so LOUD & annoying !! I am being drowned out by the chhhirrrp chhhirrrrp.....
Oh Dear Lord I can't take it anymore !! Arrgghhhhhhhh
LOL you all are funny! I have those suckers in my house...in the basement area along with some rather large spiders. Since my basement is finished and we use it now and again, I spray regular bug spray along the floor molding once a week. Before doing this, it was really bad. I had an exterminator treat the perimeter of my house. It was pretty cheap...80 bucks for a treatment that lasted 3 months.
It sounds like you need a good perimeter, and garage spraying. Wont solve the problem of the ones inside but should help in preventing more from coming in. You could hire an exterminator or do it yourself. A sprayer and some concentrated insecticide works wonders. I'm a do it yourselfer and have had good luck this year keeping the crickets, and scorpions, under control.
I love my crickets, but the noise can be annoying after awhile. I do have a cat, and she keeps them under control! She bats them around, tortures them, pulls off the legs, and then eats them, very fascinating process she has for eliminating them.
I was going to say go catch some lizards and let them loose but I see that you live in New Jersey so I don't know if they would live there or not. Down here in Texas our friendly neighborhood geckos take care of the crickets for us. Good luck to you.
