I will have to wait until I move to Nevada where the nasty mormon crickets, I will find some other reason for popping the top

You can buy Boric Acid at the hardware store. At Home Depot it's sold under the name "Hot SHot" and it's relatively inexpensive. It's a powder that comes in a plastic canister. pour a thin line around the perimeter of the area you need to clear the crickets from, also put some into any holes or cracks they may come from. It's the same stuff they use for Carpenter ants and roaches. It works very well and is safe to use.

I just checked out Boric Acid it also works on dry rot so that you don't have to replace the wood. I didn't see anywhere about concerns for animals.

Raid Flying Insect Spray. My friend had them and it worked for her in her basement. We just started getting them in our house. What i need to know is where the hell did they come from?
