I believe the first floor is actually garage space, if you look closely.

That would be awesome, I wish the industrial zones that are by the river would get up and leave, Sylvania by Martin House Brewery and/or off of I-30 has a lot of Salvage Yards, and/or Masonry yards. They are messy and an eye sore. If they could get developers to build lofts and apartments by the river, not only would it look nice. But it would also balance out the prices to make some of these affordable for lower income people as well. But time will tell.

Give it time.

Same thing you're saying about the Near Eastside (Riverside) is the same thing people were saying about the Near Southside and the area between the museums and downtown just 15 years ago...

STOCKYARDS NEWS

Mule Barn Renovations, from the FWBP:

Quote:
The Fort Worth City Council got a better idea of what the renovated horse and mule barns will look like Tuesday as Majestic Realty presented plans for the first phase of its Fort Worth Stockyards redevelopment project.
Majestic, a developer based in California, and the Hickman family of Fort Worth – collectively known as Fort Worth Heritage Development – plan a development over 70 acres of the Stockyards. The horse and mule barns, located at 122-124 East Exchange Avenue, will be the first structure to be renovated as part of the project. The horse and mule barn renovation costs an estimated $45 million.

Default Stockyards Vote: Smaller Historic Boundary

City Council Members Say Smaller Boundary Strikes Right Balance Between Property Rights and Regulation

Quote:
Fort Worth City Council members approved a 60-acre, protective historic overlay for the Stockyards district Tuesday night, rejecting a bigger map approved by the city’s Historic and Cultural Landmarks and Zoning commissions.

Council members voted 8-1, with Ann Zadeh voting no, for the smaller map. Zadeh supported a larger map that council members also considered Tuesday night.

The city’s efforts to regulate development in the Stockyards, prompted by a $175 million redevelopment announced nearly two years ago by Majestic Realty of California and Fort Worth’s Hickman family, now move on to the development of form-based codes. The form-based codes will be specific to the Stockyards and address form, mass, scale, location, context, streetscape and other amenities. A consultant, newly hired by the city, will develop the codes over the next several months through a series of public charrettes; City Council members will vote to approve them.
