Republic – which is developing the Lantana community near Flower Mound and Light Farms in Celina – was chosen in a competition with developers.

The company built the Stonebridge Ranch community in McKinney.

And Republic is currently developing the Phillips Creek Ranch in Frisco.
Great news!

Thanks for the contribution.

South Main "Complete Streets" project starts March 2

A groundbreaking is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. March 2 at 120 S. Main Street.

The project will include a new concrete roadway; wider sidewalks lined with trees and historic lamp posts; upgraded water, sewer and stormwater utilities; protected parallel parking for adjacent businesses; dedicated lanes for bicyclists; and distinctive sidewalk sculptures by renowned artist Benito Huerta.

JJG I read on a different forum about Jetta planning to build a 26 (?) Floor building. Is this just a rumor or is it actually going to happen? Thanks for the info!

It's in planning.

I wasn't going to say anything about it until it became official, seeing how it's a highrise.

Still not official, but I might as well post some information on Jetta, a planned 26-story building on Taylor and 5th.

Well, now it's becoming more and more visual... and the guys at Fort Worth Architecture are pretty much verifying it now. I'm one of them, btw.

As for the height, look, it's best to get more DENSITY now than just plop a supertall down with the way the skyline looks at this point.
It's better to have five 300 footers for every one 900ft tower right now.

Walkability expert calls for roundabout, narrow streets in Fort Worth.

(here's a vision of a modern roundabout in West 7th)

FORT WORTH
The city should pursue more roundabouts, consider narrow roads and slow down traffic to encourage pedestrian activity, a walkable-environments expert said at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.

Dan Burden, co-founder of the Walkable and Livable Communities Institute based in Washington state and a consultant to the Blue Zones Project-Fort Worth, presented the results of eight walking audits conducted throughout Fort Worth and called for changes in how the city is designed.

“Unfortunately, during much of the last 40, 50 and even 60 years, our built environment has lost the qualities that we seek. We have essentially built endless miles of roads people have to travel, because it has so far been the only real mode invested in heavily,” Burden said.

Most of the recommendations involved replacing intersections with roundabouts, including at the confusing four-street intersection at the West Seventh Urban Village.

Burden said common problems include streets that are too wide, speed limits that are too high and sidewalks that are too narrow. Suggested policy changes include creating clearly defined crosswalks and more on-street parking to narrow the streets, adding shade to cover sidewalks and making sidewalks at least 5 feet wide (the average now is 4 feet).

The next step is to incorporate the audit findings into the update of the city’s master thoroughfare plan, Burden said.

Mayor Betsy Price called the audit recommendations “amazing.”

“If we can start small without a big investment as we just get our policies right, then we can go forward,” Price said.
