We have a little spot near us where there is a dam and there is an ancient gas, restaurant and bait shop out there called The Dam Store. One of many I'm sure.

A step into there is a step back in time. Nothing's changed in its lifetime. They make a mean hamburge with a toasted bun on the grill and serve a shake or malted with all the extra in its dripping mixing can just like nostalgia.

It's a simple menu - burgers, potato salad, shakes and pies. That's it. But everything is homemade and tasty. And their pies are to die for - a three generation tradition. When one of our county legislators was voted in he treated our State Congress to a semi-load of those pies.

That's where we're going for an early supper. The sun is shining and we'll stand pre-meal for a while and watch it all. Water under the dam. That should clean out the blue meanies.
