I feel your pain, Elston! However, since I got back from vacation, he has been better about things. I like it when we cook together. THere's something about it.

Went to the Farmer's Market today. Dinner is stuffed peppers w/ground turkey breast and brown rice, tomato sauce and cheese. I'll slice some fresh tomatoes and cukes, too. DH isn't much of a salad person, but I can sneak by the raw veggies that way.

Oh wow that sounds so good! A keeper for sure! Thanks! Just finishing up the stuffed bell peppers for freezing for several great winter dinners. At our nearby roadside veggie stand the bell peppers are so inexpensive....guess I'll freeze some pieces of them to have on hand for adding to other recipes this winter!! I love the all the fresh veggies in the summer!

Has anyone here made Nigella's chicken and sausage bake? It looked pretty good on TV, though I've never seen short little italian sausages like she used. They looked about 1/2 the size of the ones we have here.

In the episode where she makes it she says it's one of her favorite comfort foods. Definitely didn't look like summer food to me though, I'd be waiting for winter!

We have a 5:00 apt. at the Vet today. So I decided to try the garlic/lemon/chicken recipe southdown posted this morning to bring to the Vet. (we barter down here) It is ready to come out of the oven in 10 mins. It looks and smells absolutely delicious. I started it in the convection oven and it is finishing at 400 in the regular oven. Yellow squash, tomatoes, garlic, scallions roasted with white wine and baked sweet potatoes. Yummy!
Thank you southdown.

So, for us for dinner tonight will be macaroni & egg potato salad that I made yesterday and grilled Nathan's hot dogs.

Argh, I wish Lacey. I can't afford to. We have some of the highest electricity rates in the nation since deregulation. Add to that I have a 50 year old house with original windows and it's been over 100 for several days straight. I've been sleeping with the house at 78... If I were a rich woman, I'd sleep under a down blanket with the air on 68. Not very green, but oh so fabulous..

Sure, Lacey. I made 6 and there are only 2 of us, so there's enough. It'll be ready about 1/2 an hour from now.
