How can I trust you to recall the information too? I wasn't aware that the FBI/Department of Justice measured crime rates on a scale of 1 to 10?

You didn't know that? It's also measured on a scale of super sad smiley face (most crime) to super happy (least crime):

So, based on the above, would of course be Detroit, Florida South of I-10, and Haiti, and would naturally be all of North Carolina, Houston, and Nebraska.

Heaven?

There are many nice places in Florida that are safe.

I always felt safe in Vero Beach and the community in which I lived had 1 bedroom condos for under $30,000 and 2 bedrooms for under $50,000. So it depends on what you need. Vero Beach has a very low crime rate. If you cross the bridge over to the barrier island by the Atlantic, then you'll have to pay a lot for a house, but there are plenty of houses in the price bracket you mentioned. I also saw many homes in Sebastian Highlands that were under $150,000. One I really liked was only 1,000 s.f. under air, but it was listed for under $100,000 and it was near the beautiful Sebastian Inlet and on a large lot with fruit trees in an area of more expensive homes. Very safe neighborhood. Again, it depends what you need/want. For example, you can find a small condo on Sanibel for under $200,000 and I've seen foreclosures for under $100,000. Although it was many years ago, I lived on Sanibel for 2 years and the only home invasions were by wolf spiders and frogs and an occasional woodpecker, although I saw a few alligators hanging around at night.

if you scale the crime rates from there you can scale on a 1-10 basis it's really not that hard.

And where is proof of your data from "there"? You only addressed my second question. You can pull every stat book in history with crime rates up to 2008 and per-capita, Weston is going to have about 1/2 to 1/3rd of the average crime rate in every category you could think of including burglary, robbery, etc. How can an area that has a crime rate that is two to three times lower than the national average be a "7" or an "8" on your unweighted, nonsensical scale? It might not be hard for you to scale, but try giving accurate, objective advice.

Go ahead, on the first link, scroll to Broward County, look for Weston, and compare the rate per 100,000 with the average. The other cities I showed homes in (Cooper City, Pembroke Pines, Miramar) also rate below average. I'm not telling the OP to move to Miami or Fort Lauderdale, and again, I would consider any of these areas to be better than Waterford Lakes.

crime from a zero to a ten. Not sure if he was on that site or not. But that's at least one that I know of.

It does not reference their data, so I am doubtful that amax would trust it, considering they do not even trust city data (which gets their crime stats from the FBI). Even so, Weston ranks a 2 in violent crime and a 3 in property crime. Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitors sites is not allowed Again, it does not even have a reference for their data and seems way off in some cases (i.e is ranks the promised land of Cary, NC a 4 in property crime, when the national average is 3).

Yup, gotta be prepared in Cary, NC. Tough place.

Kidding aside, above the national average seems odd for Cary NC.

And Weston is average with the rest of the US? I thought Weston is the promised land?

See what I mean? lol, just using Cary to prove a point that the one site that does rank on 1-10 scale is way off.
