I don't mind beards ... anything from stubble to full beards ... but they MUST be well maintained. Nothing bushy and overgrown. I find too many men grow a beard as an excuse to get out of shaving.
My ex brother-in-law was clean shaven when I met him and eventually grew this hideous Duck Dynasty beard. It was so nasty looking I couldn't help but sneer every time we went to visit. My then husband told me, "Do what you have to, but you need to hide that disgusted look when you see him. It's so rude!" I'm not sure if I ever succeeded.
I hate the long beard fad, even if well kept. I would forgive it if it was for practical purpose such as living in the woods or the artic. Other than that I don't mind shorter well kept or the shade look.
I prefer clean shaven, but a short very carefully trimmed beard can look good. A well maintained beard is a lot of work and many men won't go to that much effort.
I really dislike the mountain man beards that seem so popular in my area. I always suspect that there are bugs and bits of old vegetable soup caught up in there somewhere.
I am fond of facial hair on men. I do not like the big, bushy beards at all, but a nicely trimmed light beard is quite attractive to me, as well as various amounts of stubble.
It depends on the guy. I prefer no facial hair for the most part, but some men look good with a beard.
