I like clean shaven-ish. Clean faces are far more attractive, imho.
I had a gorgeous bf... looked like former footballer, David Beckham. He once asked me the same q & I told him to be comfortable & look how he wanted. He kept asking, as he shaved weekdays but liked to go sans shaving on weekends. Being honest, I told him that up to 2 day's stubble was sexy... by day 3, he was beginning to look homeless.
If growing out a beard, there's an awkward stage... so, that's to be expected. Personally, I don't like the look of full beards or those ZZ Top type beards... or Sam Elliot mustaches. A goatee is okay on the right lad... clean shaven is beautiful.
Ultimately, I don't like the feel of whiskers on my face. Still... if I have an SO, I'm not so rigid that I feel the need to dictate his fashion sense. But, if asked, I'd give the same opinion as above.
BTW, I've had the same q from bf's in regard to chest hair. I prefer none, but, if a man decides he likes his natural look, so be it. I can deal.
I don't like beards in most cases; or stubble that lasts beyond a day or two. Permanent stubble or scruff turns me off; I think it looks slovenly unless the man is living in the wilderness or is playing a role in Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones, etc. I like clean-shaven men.
Only the really good looking guys can get away with the scruffy look. Well, for a few days at least. Unless the guy has "it" he can wear the scruffy look whether he's good looking or not. I guess when it comes to kissing and dancing cheek-to-cheek, the clean look works best.
Other facial hair is OK, but no soul patch, goatee, ZZ Top beard, Santa beard, Colonel Sanders beard, braided beard or a beard where something is living in it.
Joe Buck did the Cowboys' game yesterday afternoon in front of million viewers and get on TV needing a shave.
I can understand this dude who doesn't give a damn about his looks, but when someone gets on TV like Buck did, he owes it to his viewers to appear clean shaven, imo.
