Oh no. They aren't gay. Most gay men have an excellent idea of how to dress to impress. I'm afraid this is much, much worse.

They're Jimmy Buffet fans. On vacation from the Midwestern Suburbs. Making a run to WalMart for sunscreen.

God help us.

They probably like polo shirts, too...pastel colored ones...ugh...

Maybe every girlfriend you've had realizes that wearing black shoes and socks in summer heat does nasty things to feet, like causing toenail fungus and athletes foot/stinky feet.

It's like offering someone with bad breath a breath mint. They want you to air your tootsies out.

Just about every woman I know wears them. The only guys I know who wear sandals or flip flops are with women. I don't think any of the single guys I know wear them.

I was at a shoe store a couple weeks ago and this lady was making her guy try on sandals.

Ladies, what's the deal? Do you really like guys in flip flops or sandals, or do you dress guys in them to scare other women away?
This is one time, that I can't blame a chick, I am to blame for me wearing sandals all of the time. I spontaneously started wearing them one day, and I have not looked back.

I went to Madeira Beach once, a while back, and I walked barefoot in the sand. MAN, it was WARM! But, I kept on walking and shoving my feet into it, until, SHAZAM!

My feet got hotter than a lit match, and I had burned the soles! I nearly crawled back to where my shoes were. And while whimpering, and wondering how I had manged to cripple myself, I put them back on.

So, I am going walk with sandals while on the beach from now on. PS: If you visit Florida, you are hereby advised to wear flip flops on the beach.

Lol, my husband used to rock the black oxfords and white socks look, even for the beach. I gently introduced him to sandals and cargo shorts, and he ever looked back.

I dont like them on guys, unless on the beach/by the pool, on vacation lol, or those slides with socks. Yeh i know i'm weird. I dont JUDGE them for wearing them, it's just not my choice in what i like on guys for their footwear. My S/O doesnt wear either of them.

I LOVE wearing flip flops, however. Or bare feet.

flip flops are very polarizing. As a guy, I admit they look good, nice leather ones. but they're so un-functional. can't run in them, can't work in them. And I HATE that thing in between my toes.
Sandals are great however, if they've got a back strap and you can function in them like a regular shoe.
I also just had a toenail surgically removed, and I MAY be seen in public in sandals. Just don't look down and you'll be fine.

Maybe I'm off base but flip flops don't seem very masculine.
I'm trying to imagine any of these men always wearing black socks and black sneakers anywhere they go. It just sounds like something a middle school or high school age male would wear, not an adult man who is trying to come off as "very masculine".

Maybe your feet stink and she wants you to air them out.

Female here. Stopped wearing flip flops when I was kid. Could care less about them now. Really don't wear sandals. I tend to wear canvas boat shoes or other slip on shoes in summer. I have never asked a man to wear flip flops or sandals. That's a personal choice and something I had never thought to ask. Anyway, I have more important things to nag my man about that he needs to change.
