Is it important for a single woman to wear makeup and dress nicely to find a man that wants marriage?

I have always felt to do so to date was a rouse. One should be their natural self instead of trying to be someone they are not.

Thoughts?

Honesty in all matters, including being natural looking.

If it's not your style, then no, because if you do it to attract a man, you'll attract a man who wants that, and you won't be able/willing to keep it up.

It's only a ruse if you let yourself go after the wedding. Personally, I still wear makeup and dress nice, after 20 years of marriage.

I agree.

Currently I am wearing 10 year old jeans that have holes at the back pockets. My hair is three colors and needed to be dyed about 4 inches ago. My budget and schedule can't keep up with hair maintenance. The only make up I own is 3 different lip balms.

I am not ugly at all, but I have never been high maintenance with clothing and make up.

It's important (at least to me) that woman always look the best, and classy. Not only when she is hunting for men.
Of course if that's not her usual style, then better not pretend!

Sadly, I noticed, it's a pretty common occurrence that some dating women try very hard to look and act appealing, but day after wedding beauty stops, and ugly starts... (no makeup, no hair care, sloppy, oversized clothes, gain weight etc.) In other words - some let themselves go after marriage. They just lose motivation to look attracting and desirable.

I can count on my hands how often I have worn makeup in 20 years. I don't even need all my digits...

there is a BIG difference between buying out Ulta/Sephora, putting a 1" coat of makeup on, and putting on designer duds day after day and keeping yourself decently groomed, styled nicely and smelling good. You can easily do the latter without breaking the budget.

You will generally attract what you see in the mirror.

I'm a jeans and tee shirt kind of woman. Except for special occasions where I dress up, I don't wear makeup other than mascara because I have blonde eyelashes. I do take care of myself though: exercise, eat right, personal hygiene, etc. I found my boyfriend this way and I'm happy he likes a low maintenance woman. Although I'm not looking for marriage. So I can't comment on that part.
