I don't know anyone who wears pantyhose or slips any more. I used to wear them in high school, but that was 30 years ago. Nowadays all I ever see with skirts is bare legs.

Slips are essential with most skirts and dresses in the shops these days. Even those stocking shorts like skimmies are handy under the T-shirt fabric dresses. The fabric is way too thin and clinging to be worn as the only layer.
I think the biggest reason is due to being self conscious of their body, you know, have body/image issues.
I believe the ones who say they "arent comfortable" are saying that because they dont want to come out and say the real reason which is "I am too self conscious of my body to wear skirts/dresses".
My wife rarely wears skirts/dresses. Her reasoning is because she thinks certain ones make her look really, really short. She's a "curvy" 5' 2" tall and 123 lbs. Because she has a bubble booty and rather strong/muscular legs from years of fitness, she thinks her legs look stocky in certain skirts/dresses. She'll wear pencil skirts without issue because she feels she doesnt look as short in them. And she'll wear ballroom dresses/gowns but usually when doing ballroom dancing.
She really just prefers the ease, comfort, fit and look of her yoga pants (Lululemon, Lorna Jane, etc.) which she looks FANTASTIC wearing.
That's exactly my body type as well. I'm 5'2" with muscular legs from running, and a bubble butt. I thought pencil skirts would look nice, but I can't find them anywhere. I don't like buying clothes online because I always end up having to return them do to incorrect fit.
Shaving, moisturizing, dealing with bruises/dilated veins/shaving nicks and age related changes. Many of us require a lot of upkeep and "preparation" if we are going to expose our legs.
If you cannot relate to this, then count yourself as one of the LUCKY ones.
I just don't like them. It has nothing to do with not liking my legs because I didn't like them when I was young and had great legs. I hate having to worry about my skirt blowing up and exposing my bum (this has actually happened to me twice.) Generally, I just feel uncomfortable in them, like I'm not myself. I still dress feminine though, I just prefer to wear pants and a cute top. However, I do own a couple of dresses and skirts but will only wear them if I'm going somewhere fancy which doesn't happen often.
I like wearing skirts, but yes, more thought and effort has to go into wearing a skirt, and sometimes it's not worth the extra stress. I always shave my legs year round, so it's not that. I also wear heels every day at work, so it's not that. For me, it's 1) the wind, and 2) static.
Wind:
If I wear a pencil skirt, wind is not an issue. But some of my skirts are flared/fluttery, and it's a pain walking outside and having to hold my skirt down when the wind tries to blow it up. I really don't want my mid-upper thighs showing in a public setting, whether I have bare legs or not.
Static:
If it's not summer, I wear tights under a skirt (usually opaque or patterned black or brown tights). But just walking causes the skirt to ride up the tights. I spray static-guard, but it only half-works, and then I smell like static-guard. My office seems to be extra staticky. I've tried wearing a slip, and sometimes that helps, but it's also another layer that can get bunchy.
But a longer skirt to my ankles, to me, is no different from wearing pants. Wind doesn't matter and they don't seem to stick to my tights.
While they seem to be in the minority I have heard from a number of women they can't stand wearing a skirt or a dress at all. Just curious what some reasons may be? I do remember a friend awhile back tried on a dress after many years of not wearing one and she said she felt weird and uncomfortable.
I don't know.
Why don't guys wear skirts and dresses?
