Just some of the information that a mechanical engineer, or a chemical engineer, would learn in the course of obtaining a degree, that would not be part of having plastic surgery.

I'm going to vote for the degree, not the plastic surgery.

It depends on what the degree is for. If it’s in the STEM field, do it. If it’s a degree in Elizabethan culture, why waste the time, wracking up thousands of dollars of debt, plus limiting your job searches.

I’ve worked with plenty of teachers and other degreed individuals, who were making more money in the sales field and weren’t planning to go back to teaching or whatever they were doing before. More people should concentrate on fields where a good income is possible, without spending 100k for a four year degree. A degree will always benefit the school, less so for some of it’s graduates.

If you have a good job, there should be enough discretionary income to keep your appearance up.

BUT picking the degree doesn’t mean it has to be in mechanical engineering. AND...picking any degree doesn’t have to mean no plastic surgery. If you have a degree & a good job, you can afford the plastic surgery....if that’s what you want.

The original premise of this thread was that getting plastic surgery would allow a woman to marry well vs getting a degree and still have to work.
Around the time this thread was made there were plenty of social media personalities promoting the idea that men do not care about degrees but about looks and that the money used for a degree would be better put toward appearance and plastic surgery.

In any event, beautiful people still get paid more than average people. So there is that.

This is super old fashioned from older generations IMO....it’s 2021.

Get the education. Even entry level HR personnel and well paid admin. asst. positions look for a bachelor's degree these days.

That being said, if have money and want to get a cosmetic procedure, then go for it. Studies have shown that an attractive physical appearance does help people when competing for jobs and pay raises. Now, that doesn't mean you NEED plastic surgery to be happy and successful. But please don't get surgery because others say you should.

Getting married and being into "repairs" is old fashioned?

The original premise of the thread is super old fashioned, not marriage. It’s 2021....nobody should think like that because plastic surgery isn’t going to guarantee anybody a rich husband or a healthy relationship even if that’s what they wanted to do. We need to get a degree & be able to support ourselves so we never have to depend on a man IMO. Successful plastic surgery is about doing it for yourself if that’s what you want to do...but it should never be done for somebody else IMO. It’s not “economical”.

Sorry, degrees are absolutely overrated.

Sry...but it’s super hard for us as women to find good employment without them, unless we are happy with cutting hair or working retail. Isn’t that the subject of the thread tho...plastic surgery or a degree? I recommend getting the degree & finding a good job. It’s 2021....be independent before a serious relationship.

edit: Then anything is possible. Tho if I wanted to get implants or braces or lip injections or anything, I’d do it for myself & not for a man.
