Why do so many women wear pants? (cheap, American, older)

Its more practical and comfortable to wear pants while traveling....especially considering that we have to jump through hoops for the TSA, schlepping bags all over the place, may have to run to catch a flight, maybe have to hang around in a cold airport waiting for connecting flights and God only knows what will happen while traveling abroad.
Nothing more, nothing less to be read into it. Its not a statement making act...its not a feminist declaration. Its pants.
Oops, I always wear a dress when I travel these days. For some reason, people are nicer to me then than when I wear pants (e.g. customs, and people behind me on the plane when I'm trying to find my seat and get my luggage on the rack above).
But otherwise I'll wear pants 80 % of the time (apart from summertime, of course). Any guy that complains that women don't wear skirts/dresses enough should wear one himself when it's 10 below outside.
I guess some women just find them more comfortable. lol at bryson, I feel you, it does look rather liberating, I wish we could wear a sleeveless tea and a pair of pants and get by w/ it, That would be liberating enough for me.
I personally prefer to wear skirts and dresses only, with shorts or capris underneath. I find them more comfortable and modest than pants.
However, in an airport, wearing a long skirt (like the type I prefer) will get you a free pat down, as they mess up the scanners. I would consider wearing jeans in that situation instead.
But I don't fly much, so I don't worry about it.
And the cold is not a hindrance to wearing skirts! For instance, I'm wearing a long skirt I made from a pair of sweatpants. They are soooo comfy!
I tried the long skirt thing, I kept getting them caught in doors and various other things. It's a nice look if you're tall, i'm far from that so I just gave up.
I prefer shorts and tanks. I work outside on our farm all summer and find them very comfortable. When the weather changes though, sweats, unless I have to go into town.
I didn't get them stuck in things. Also, I'm not tall. Fashion is not particularly important to me, so I don't really care what others think about how I dress. I've known a woman who lives on a farm in Alaska and only wears skirts. She does everything in them.
